Our second show features some North Country stalwarts, Barb Heller and the Dotys! Join us when they take the stage on Saturday, June 6 at 7pm!
Best known for her role as on-air host for North Country Public Radio in Canton, Barb Heller has been on the radio since 1989 in northern New York. She’s also a guitarist/songwriter with five albums to her credit, and has taught hundreds of teens and adults how to play fingerstyle guitar. Workshops, family sing-alongs, and campfire entertaining are all part of her repertoire. Heller's songs are often about people and life in the north country, with universal appeal to audiences of all ages.
The Dotys — violinist Liesl Schoenberger Doty and bassist Karl Doty — are a husband-and-wife duo celebrated for their blend of classical artistry, folk roots, and crossover versatility. Former members of the Grammy-nominated chamber orchestra A Far Cry, they have performed at major venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and the Musikverein, and at festivals including Yellow Barn, Ottawa Chamberfest, and Verbier. Liesl is a crossover violinist with three commercial fiddle albums and appearances at the Grand Ole Opry, while Karl is a versatile bassist and in-demand collaborator whose discography spans multiple genres, with additional experience in post-production editing alongside Grammy-winning producer Jesse Lewis. Together, they bring warmth, authenticity, and artistry to the stage while raising their three children in northern New York, where Liesl teaches at SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music and Karl at St. Catherine of Siena Academy.
